Christine du Plessis (nee Rautenbach) (1928 - ) attended Oranje Meisies in Bloemfontein, then went on to Rhodes in Grahamstown for a degree in fine arts. Then she studied under Maria Hirtoff in Vienna, Austria in the 1950's.
She sings in all the mayor European languages, especially German, Spanish, and Italian. She performed with Anna Bender to introduce many less well known Afrikaans compositions.
She is now retired, living in Pretoria. Her last public performance was in 2013. Recently she had two bouts with cancer, and a few car accidents, but she recovered well and is known for her 'kannie-dood' spirit.
